Pack Up Pitch InPack Up. Pitch In. HELP OUT. 2008

Dreading move-out? We can help. Donate your unwanted but useable items to the Pack Up, Pitch In, HELP OUT program. We’ll take just about anything useable off your hands and donate it to local charitable organizations. This will help us divert thousands of cubic feet of waste from landfills, and you get to leave feeling pretty good about what you’ve done. Now about those grades……

  • Bikes: Round em up and take 'em to orange fenced bike corrals in 13 locations around MSU. MSU Bikes will restore / recycle the bikes and loan them out to others.
  • Carpet: Vacuum. Roll. Stuff it in the mini storage container just outside your hall. If we can collect more than 4000 rolls, we can beat Penn State!
  • Clothing: Clean. Useable. Don’t give us your rags. Put in clear bags. Plenty of bags available at the desk.
  • Shoes: Boots and sandals too. Tie them together if you can and put in with the clothes.
  • Electronics / Appliances: Anything with a battery or cord is e-waste. In case you haven’t heard, these items are not so good for landfills.
  • Food: The staff of life, but please no staph. We want your unopened, nonperishable food. NO FROZEN FOOD and NO REFRIGERATED FOOD.
  • Furniture: Don’t donate trash. Useable stuff only.
  • Loft Lumber: Take your loft down by APRIL 25. Haul it to the bin just outside your hall. We’ll get it transformed into more cool stuff.
  • White Paper - White office paper only. Any other contaminating materials result in all materials going tot he landfill.
  • Mixed Paper: Now THIS is cathartic. Toss in notebooks, mags, newspapers, envelopes, legal pads, and paper folders. Save that premium, smooth white paper (that has its own container). DON’T CONTAMINATE by tossing in other stuff, or it all gets dumped in the landfill.
  • Plastics #1 and #2: You know the drill. Empty. Remove caps.
  • Returnables: Donate your empties to the cause… ’cause you don’t want to deal with them anyway.
