Rental rates increase annually in August, with the approval of the Michigan State University Board of Trustees. Tenants are notified of the new rate amount forty-five (45) days prior to the due date.

Rent Payments

Residents must pay rent to the University for the leased apartment, monthly or by semester depending on lease type. Rent is due the first day of each month or of the semester. 

If you feel you were billed incorrectly or you are disputing any charges, please contact us at UABilling@uh.msu.edu and include as much information as possible to expedite resolution.

For your convenience, several payment options are available:

  • In person: Cashiers Office, 110 Hannah Administration Building. Cash, check, money order accepted.
  • By mail: Michigan State University, Student Accounts, P.O. Box 79001, Detroit, Michigan 48279-3139. Payment must be received by the due date to avoid a late fee. Check or money order accepted.

We are unable to accept credit cards at this time.

To avoid late charges, be sure to make your rent payment by the first day of each month. Residents who plan to vacate their apartment at anytime during the month may contact the University Apartments Office to determine the closing payment amount.
