MOVING IN

Moving into University Apartments is pretty easy to do. We don’t require security deposits; all the utilities are ready to go upon arrival.

Check in at University Apartments, 100 Service Road (Hours: M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Staff will assist residents in reviewing and signing their leases, collecting first month’s rent payments, issuing apartment and mailbox keys and distributing temporary parking permits.
Residents are also issued apartment inventory checklists to evaluate the condition of their apartments. The inventory checklist must be completed and returned to the University Apartments Office within seven (7) days.

Residents arriving after regular hours may pick up temporary keys from the University Apartments Maintenance Office. These residents must return to the University Apartments Office during the next regular business day to complete the check-in process.

Please remember that you are signing a legal document when you sign your lease.

Rental Insurance

Residents are advised to protect themselves against possible loss by securing an appropriate personal liability and property insurance policy. University insurance does not cover loss or destruction of residents’ personal property, nor does it cover the loss of University property due to residents’ negligence.  The University or its insurance carrier will assess full restitution costs from the resident for such acts.

MOVING OUT

FAMILY, FACULTY & STAFF OR SINGLE-STUDENT APARTMENT RESIDENTS VACANCY AND MOVE-OUT PROCES

Print this handy Move-Out document to help you check out of your apartment!

There are a few more things you’ll have to take care of to have a smooth move-out process.  Complete policy information on vacancy/termination and damages can be found under UA Resources.

Experience tells us that moving is a stressful time. Avoid unnecessary charges by thoroughly cleaning your apartment before leaving. Please contact us directly if you have any questions about the following information.  We’d be happy to do a pre-check or walk-through with you!

Residents may terminate their lease for any reason at any time by submitting a 45-day written notice of intent to vacate. Rent will be charged a minimum of 45 days from the date the written vacate notice is received by the University Assignments Office. Vacate notices are available at the University Assignments Office or you may print one off from online. Residents who vacate prior to living with us a minimum of 4 months are subject to a $150.00 early termination fee.

Upon either expiration or termination of their lease, residents must return all keys and yield possession of their apartment to University Apartments by 11:59 p.m. Residents who fail to return all keys and yield possessions of their apartment by their expiration/termination date will be deemed trespassers and will be charged liquidated damages of $50.00 per day, for each day possession is withheld. Rental charges will not cease until all keys are returned, and the resident has properly checked out of the apartment. Upon termination the premises should be returned clean, in good order, and satisfactory condition, less normal wear and tear.

Residents vacating between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday should return all keys to University Apartments Office. All keys should be sealed in a Key Return Envelope and all requested information completed including name apartment address, and forwarding address. During all other hours, keys may be returned by bringing them to the University Apartments Maintenance Office, or by sealing them in a Key Return Envelope and dropping them in the “After-Hours Key Return Box”, located outside the entrance to the Maintenance Office.

Residents may voluntarily arrange an apartment inspection by a University Apartments Maintenance Supervisor. Inspections generally occur during normal business hours. It is the resident’s responsibility to call University Apartments Maintenance Office to arrange such an appointment at least one week in advance of their vacancy date; they must be present during the inspection. All keys must be returned to the Maintenance Supervisor at the completion of the inspection. After the apartment inspection is completed, residents may obtain a copy of their “Termination of Residence” from University Apartments Office and take it to 140 Administration Building to obtain any refunds of prepaid rental charges owed to them. A copy of the “Termination of Residence” form will be mailed to the forwarding address of all residents, who do not request a copy at the time of inspection

You may apply for a transfer to another available apartment, with the approval of University Apartments. Applications are available in the University Assignments Office.
