Information ServicesThe former University Housing Building on Service Road has been going through renovations to make room for the H&FS Information Services Department and is near completion. On Tuesday, June 3, Information Services staff will be moving into their new offices from their current locations in Holmes Hall and the Food Stores Building. This will bring the entire unit together to ensure better communication among their department and continue to provide quality service to the H&FS community.

Throughout the summer and fall, servers that are located in their old buildings will be moved into the new building. This will require a series of system outages to move and reconfigure these servers. A tentative schedule of these outages will be made available soon. Also, Information Services has a new Web page that gives you the status of various services that may go offline or have other problems. (Details of their move will also be posted there.) You can reach this Web page at www.hfs.msu.edu/admin/servreq/status/.

During the move, Information Services phone lines will be turned off and they will be unable to answer for up to two hours. The phones will be off starting at 9:00 a.m. You will be able to leave them a voice mail message, but they will not receive it until the phones are turned back on. While the phones are off they will have an emergency only line, 230-6085. Please use this line only for emergencies on June 3 only.

Information Services asks for your patience during the move, and they look forward to being able to provide improved services to the Division from their new home this summer.

The following are quotes from several of the Information Services employees regarding the move:

"I am excited about moving into one building where all Information Services staff will be all together. I believe this will provide better communication and collaboration amongst staff and therefore provide better faster service to our customers!" ~ Karen Wood

"The move is definitely a good thing... we'll all be working under one roof for once, so I think a greater amount of collaboration and overall communication will be possible for all of us, end result being that we can provide a more solid and timely level of service to our customers." ~ Rob McDonnell

"I'm excited to be moving to our new location. The remodeled offices will give us the professional polish and ability to collaborate that our old locations did not allow. I am looking forward to having space where we can finally be a cohesive group and to the increased productivity and networking the environment can foster. The parking situation will be an improvement too! Wahoo! See ya in the new building." ~ Melanie McNutt
