for cross country skiing, hiking or relaxation, no matter what the

Bittersweet Ski Area
Full-service ski shop, PSIA Certified Ski School, highest vertical
in West Michigan. Terrain park with 100% snowmaking. Take US 131
to Otsego exit, go west on M-89 to area.

Echo Valley
Tobogganing & ice skating. Eight 60 mph toboggan runs; toboggans
furnished free. 43,000 sq. ft. outdoor skating rink, inner tubing
hills, skate rentals, clubhouse with fireplace and snack bar. Excellent
for groups and families. Four miles NE of city.

MSU W. K. Kellogg Forest
Open to the public during the winter from 8 am to 5 pm. Cross-country skiers
travel the two and a half mile Lemmien Loop Road and over fifty miles of hiking
trails on the 600 acres provide a challenge of very hilly terrain in
areas. Trails are not groomed, and you will have to compete with multiple
activities, including horseback riders. No lifts, runs, fees or equipment
rental.

Timber Ridge Ski Area
Fifteen groomed slopes, 100% snowmaking, four chair lifts, five surface tows,
night skiing, ski and snowboard rental. $2 for beginner lessons,
special children's program. Day lodge includes food and beverage
service. Equipment sales and service also available. Group packages
available.

Swiss Valley Ski Area
Eleven groomed ski runs, two quad chair lifts, one triple chair lift, four ropes
on separate beginner area. Night skiing every night on all slopes,
100% snowmaking coverage, Chalet cocktail lounge, full-line ski shop
and service center, PSIA Ski School, snowboarding w/sales, rental and lessons, children's program, race program, group discounts,
lodging nearby.

Kal-Haven Trail State Park
The trail is open 8 am to 10 pm, seven days a week. Snowmobiling is allowed
the entire length of trail with some reduced speed areas; 4"
of snow required. Shared use cross-country skiing full length of trail,
or use adjacent bridle path beginning two miles east of South Haven
at 66th Street. Trail pass required for cross-country skiing.

Kalamazoo Nature Center
Eleven nature trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. Ungroomed
trails, no rentals. Come in out of the cold and visit our newly renovated
Interpretive Center. Excellent for kids of all ages. Public programs
every Sunday at 2 pm. Group rates available. Call for admission rates,
programs and conditions. Hours: 9 am to 5 pm, Mon-Sat.; 1-5 pm on
Sun., grounds open until 6 pm.
